, virginia, has about 4,500 customers in the dark. bge reports nearly 3,000 outages. the majority of those are in anne arundel county. those storms brought down trees and power lines in bethesda. wires fell about 1:30 this afternoon. the neighbors there say they saw the wires on fire after a tree fell. a car was damaged there but nobody was injured. >>> a whole lot of rain fell quickly causing flooding in frederick. roads turned into rivers during the height of the storm. some kids got stuck walking in water up to their knees. some parts of frederick saw between two and four inches of rain. on days like these, people live in the bloomingdale neighborhood in d.c. aren't taking any chances. they're doing anything they can to prevent flooding. a problem they've had to deal with several times already this year. jackie benson has more on how residents are trying to keep things dry and when a real solution to the problem might be ready to go. >> reporter: there is a lot of anxiety here. people are still dealing with insurance claims from multiple floods. their d.c. councilmembers say they've wai

in northern virginia are cleaning up after heavy rain pounded that area. this was the scene in reston where several trees damaged homes and cars. the weather was bad but luckily, there was no confirmed tornado sighting and no one was seriously hurt. this morning, power has been restored to all dominion virginia customers affected by that storm. you really felt it come in. i was starting to get worried. it just came in so fast and furious but we knew we were going to have that storm. >> that front was very, very strong and we had this real humid unstable air mass so it is like bang, you know. but it was a busy day, let me tell you. it was a very busy day. happy to say things are much calm are now. good weather to at loft get out there and do whatever clean-up needs to be done. we don't have any clouds or anything going on. maybe a little bit of fog to the far west but other than that, we have a ridge of high pressure in control and that will hold us for the majority of the week. yes' highs, just two to three degrees below the seasonal average. average. i want to tell you, on saturday, it was

washington, much of northern virginia and western maryland. they are going to stay wet here throughout the entire day. all of this coming from a front that's producing all this rain that's moving in and advancing, getting a little bit heavier now just southeast of charleston, west virginia. that's now moving into the far southeastern portions of west virginia. that's going to eventually move into the southern shenandoah valley in about another two hours or so, and then closer to the metro area, that looks like that's going to happen around 3:00 this afternoon. ahead of that, we've got mild and muggy air. temperatures around 70 degrees much of the region. hour by hour by 7:00 a.m., still cloudy. rain west of the metro area. a few scattered sprinkles around the immediate metro area. we'll be hovering near 70. some of those showers beginning to move in. then quickly after that, by 3:00 or so, we could have some of those storms producing those damaging winds that might bring down power lines and tree limbs. unfortunately, that risk extends into this evening. your first 4 traffic now with d
